I’ve recently started working on iPad Pro with apple pencil. The ProCreate app has a cool function which records as you sketch. So I thought I’d utilise this and make a few short videos as I sketch and share them on YouTube. Here is the first vid!

Enjoy!

dandyannualChristmas day is a week today and I’ve realised I haven’t talked about this years Dandy Annual!

That’s right folks, rumours of the Dandy’s demise are false and Britains oldest comic continues to entertain readers of all ages.

I’m pleased to say I was able to contribute some stories and art to this years book, returning to an old favourite, Brassneck!

The barmy bolt brain stars in 4 stories with guest appearances from Bully Beef and Santa Claus, and a two page feature giving you the chance to design your very own robot buddy!

Not only that, Brassneck meets his maker in an action packed tale which threatens the end for the Dandy’s robot chum. Can Charlie and his pals save Brassneck? Pick up a copy this Christmas to find out.

The book is also packed with all your Dandy faves, it’s a great read, wrapped in a lovely cover by veteran DCT artist Ken H. Harrison.

So I hope you all enjoy it and have a very merry Christmas!

There is loads more to enjoy in the comic, which comes bagged this week with a few gifts, a whoopee cushion, fake poo and a menace prank manual!

I’ve been busy writing and illustrating lots more features for the Beano, so look out for them in 2015.

Enjoy!

Blimey! It’s been a while since I updated this blog. The reason… Well I’ve been drawing, a lot!

I’m pleased to say the BEANO HQ has been keeping me in gainful employment on a weekly basis.

I’ve been having a whale of a time designing and drawing lots of feature pages featuring Dennis the Menace and his supporting cast, and also The Bash Street Kids. My take on Gnasher proved popular allowing me to write and draw some mini strips starring Gnasher and Gnipper. More on that next week, it’s something special!

And not only that, I was also picked out to bring a brand new Beano character to life! STUNT GRAN makes her dynamic debut in this weeks issue!

My comic strip in Toxic Magazine is carrying on nicely too. I’m just about to draw up episode 11 of Oscar’s Orc Army.

So with all this, my new Crash Course in Comic Creating workshops, painting a commissioned mural on a children’s nursery playground and getting a bit of interest from a rather wonderful illustration agency, it’s all go!

521863_482382528486151_225806595_nYesterday saw issue 1452 of the heavy rock mag KERRANG! hit the shops. This issue features an 8 page comic pull out with an excellent selection of comic strips starring some of rock and metal’s favourite stars!

I heard about the project over on Twitter and got in touch with the Editor who soon got me involved.

PrintI had great fun drawing the exploits of the mighty MUSE!

Other rock stars appearing in the comic include, Slash, MCR, Paramore and Biffy Clyro. My favourite being the Kerry King from Slayer, spot the difference game! Chortle!

If rock and metal and comics is your thing then you should definitely check this issue out.

Also this week I was let loose on some artwork for the Beano starring The Bash Street Kids and Dennis the Menace, no less!!! It was great to be invited by the Beano Ed to draw a little Dennis strip for an upcoming issue of BeanoMax!

I’m always rattling along with more Oscar’s Orc Army episodes for Toxic Magazine. And waiting for some scripts to come in, as I’ve been assigned art chores for some more classic Dandy characters! So 5 more pages of comics to draw for the Dandy Annual 2014. I’m looking forward to working from another writers script and drawing this dynamic duo! (no spoilers here, chuckle).

Laters!

Brassneck2014-3clip2013 has got off to a flying start for me work wise. At this time of year I’m usually throwing myself into frantic pitching mode trying to secure some work in these early months. Not so this year.

I’ve returned to the drawing board after the festive break with plenty to do in January and February.

I’m currently finishing off the final of 3 new Brassneck comics for the 2014 Dandy Annual, and hoping this won’t be my last opportunity to write and draw the metal maniac since his recent reboot over at the brand new digital Dandy.

It’s also a thrill to have my first published work in The Beano Max comic this month!

AND for Toxic magazine, I’m working on some new Oscar’s Orc Army, which was given an extended run in December. If you like the strip or just love the idea of a little kid commanding a horde of stupid Orc warriors, then why not give Oscar your vote for fave comic strip over on the Toxic magazine website. www.toxicmag.co.uk/

Last but not least, you may notice updates slowing down over on the Crumbs! page. I have some exciting plans for Crumbs going into 2013. I’m going to be hanging on to some of the new strips currently in production with the aim to launch a full pilot issue of Crumbs! online and who knows… may be in print! It’s some way off but watch this space. And keep checking back regularly because Karl Dixon’s, Brabbles and Boggit will be appearing regularly on the Crumbs! page.

Happy new year readers!

dan079 copyWell here we are. The final print issue of The Dandy is out today. 100 page special featuring 75 stories and characters from throughout the comics 75 year history. But it’s not the end because THE DANDY DIGITAL comic also launches today with a FREE taster issue.
